Summary:
Use “Content Groupings” in Google Analytics to group together a collection of related pages for easier reporting.
Background:
We’ve all been there having to generate some sort of report that requires manually collating various urls from a website. Not the end of the world if it is 10 pages but a nightmare if it is a 1000 pages.
How the UK Government Did it
This excellent and detailed blog post shows how you can extract multiple page data from the website using the Google Analytics API.
How Revenue Engineers Did it
We felt the UK GOV approach was cumbersome and not suitable for non-technical users on an on-going basis. Instead we used a little known functionality already built into Google Analytics called “Content Groupings” that allows us to easily pull together a wide group of pages in simple way and have all the data available in Google Analytics (rather than a spreadsheet).

What We Learned from SXSW This Week
Buzzfeed CEO says they used to focus on the “bored at work” audience and now they are focused on the “bored on the sofa”, we love this phrase and feel it applied equally to the gambling industry.
Virtual Reality – There was no breakthrough app this year at SXSW instead Virtual Reality was the key product. With Oculus announcing the range of games available, Playstation unveiling their VR range and even McDonalds have turned a happy meal box into a VR viewer. Our favourite is this Smart VR Viewer available on Indiegogo that works with any smart phone.

Mobile SEO
Google have announced they are turning up the “mobile friendly” ranking signal for SEO. Time to double check your mobile friendliness
DMP
Google have finally launched their Data Management Platform as part of the official upgrade to Google Analytics Premium. This has been a huge missing piece in the Google product offering and will pose a serious threat to other DMP providers.
An entire new suite of products have been launched and rebranded as Google Analytics 360 Suite. The suite includes a DMP, Tag Manager, Website Optimiser, Analytics, Attribution and Reporting. They can be purchased individually or as a group and integrate with Adwords, Doubleclick and 3rd party marketing tools.
